BellaPierre Waterproof Gel Nude Lip Liner - Product Review

BellaPierre Waterproof Gel Nude Lip LinerThese all-natural lip liners are made up of mineral pigments and botanical waxes such as jojoba and safflower which are supposed to provide definition and long-wear, as well as waterproofing.

At the first application, I really did not care for this lip-liner; however, after continued use, I find it more enjoyable. I love the easy, quicker application due to the softness of the product. I find myself wearing it more than other more traditional liners (of which I have an drawer-full).

Plus
Soft and moisturizing vs some of the harder tipped pencils.
Softness makes for easy application.
Nude color is good for that all-natural look (which we all know takes time, skill and products to achieve)
Nude color is good for older women so that color does not show so much in wrinkles while still offering a defined look.
Nude color may be used for contouring and correction beneath a colored pencil.
Nude color is great for younger girls wanting to define without looking overdone.
It is an all-natural product and this is always a plus and sometimes we have to let go of other plusses than unnatural products offer to make the best and healthiest choice for ourselves, the animals and the planet.
No animal testing.

Minus
Nude is way too light for me personally I prefer more color (even though I am older).
Not a lot of staying power I think due to the gel, it is softer and creeps a little.
“Waterproof” is a pretty broad statement. It does stay on after taking a drink. It does not stay on after a meal and teeth-brushing so you be the judge on that one. As for swimming, I do not know as I have not yet swum while wearing it.
Gel is a little messier to sharpen because it is softer than a hard liner pencil, especially if the product gets warm. Best to store it in a cool place if possible. If carried in your purse, it may soften a little more as do most cosmetics.

The product retails at their website for £20.00 (just under $29 USD). It is available on Amazon for as low as $14,99 + 5.00 shipping, so $20. Is it worth the money? That is up to you and your budget to decide. But remember, it is all-natural and a quality mineral product. Natural and quality cost more.

Overall, I do really like it. It is easy and comfortable and I can feel good about the ingredients and the company’s philosophies.

Creating a Retro Seventies Style with Santa Fe Colors

Recreating a Seventies Look
By Cheryl Bruedigam

STYLE Santa Fe includes bringing in a hint of that Santa Fe-style with other looks as well as wearing it as a complete ensemble. Today we will bring it in with earthy bronze tones and pink desert eye shadow shades to create this ultra seventies retro style.

Certain eras had their own unique styles to offer and the seventies were certainly not lacking. Here I have recreated a vintage seventies day and evening look using some Santa Fe-style colors in gold and bronzes to tie it all together. Some desert pink compliments the evening look.

Recently, I was watching re-runs of the old seventies detective show, The Rockford Files. Many of the women’s clothes were atypical but others were timeless and some were earmarked as timeless and classic. The styles had a character to them that was uniquely theirs. Bikinis and plunging necklines and wide swaying bells were in, Halter-tops or one-shouldered side-straps on blouses were common, Women were stepping out, becoming bold and exploring the world in the seventies and this was evident in the clothing designs. There was a combination of an earthiness leftover from the sixties movement, yet a flamboyant and colorful expression in colors and prints, accessories and jewelry that echoed Helen Reddy's hit song, I am Woman.

Big designs and chunky jewelry were characteristic of the seventies.

Day look

This retro seventies top was an amazing find in a little market, four dollars. Yep, four dollars and in perfect condition. The market carries considerable stock of vintage pieces although many are much more expensive running up to a hundred dollars.

Retro evening bag

The vintage evening bag was also a market find and was purchased for six dollars. It too was in mint condition; it appears to have never even been used. Vintage items are always a good investment because with care, they will only increase in value as they become more scarce.

For the makeup, I have selected some deep earth tones in Santa Fe shades to balance out the look and to compliment the gold in the blouse; bronzes that blend well for day. Add a brown shimmering lip color to complete the look.

Evening look

For the evening look, I chose a smoky charcoal eye shade with desert pink highlighter to tie in the silver necklace and bag for evening with the addition of a lace scarf (and scarves were another biggie in the seventies).  For pouty seventies evening lips, try white frosted lipstick with a dab of pink or gold in the center of the bottom lip. Yes, we wore white frosted lipstick in the seventies. Add white nail color and you are set.

For the shoes, I chose a pair of beaded sandals with that native look in earth tone with a heal that can go from day to evening.

Pair a similar top with your usual jeans, or a long flowing white skirt or large retro white bell-bottoms.

If you have the eye and know what you are looking for, vintage bargains are plentiful. Estate sales are another excellent source for vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories as is Ebay. I was fortunate to have been a teenager in the seventies so in addition to my natural eye for and love of, fashion, I was there and I do know what to look for. But if you were not there, just start watching any seventies re-run on TV and you will start to get an idea on the women’s fashions. Seek out back issues of Vogue and other fashion magazines that date back to the seventies. Some may be available online others may be in your local library. There are many photos online as well. Vintage patterns at places like Ebay and Etsy will also offer an in-depth look at the styles of the period.

So if you want to create a retro seventies look, this may help you as a foundation from which to work.Get out and see what you may find. Be creative and add your own style to the retro pieces. After all, that is what we are doing, creating our own unique style with STYLE Santa Fe.

An Eye to the Sea - Colors of the Sea Eye Shadow Palettes

Summertime brings the colors of water, oceans, and thoughts of, or visits to, the sea. To compliment your look in these shimmering ocean colors, I have put together a “sea” eye shadow look along with some palettes to gie you an idea of colors to work with.

The sea is moody. It can be many colors from bright blue to sultry gray. In this sea-look, I have chosen to go with cool brown, mermaid green and blues in shimmering shades.

Included is a shirt in similar shade to give you a foundation on matching the colors with which I am working.

A swatch of the colors used to create this look.
A shimmering pale blue green, a sea green, a light brown and a shimmering pearl.

here is a sketched look at the colors applied in the eye area

Directions: Apply the brown shade to the crease. Top with the shimmering green and pale blue. Blend well. Add a dab of the pale blue to lid. Top with a dab of pearl and blend. highlight above crease toward brow-bone with more pearl. Line outer edges with the shimmering pale blue.

Additionally, a light brown or mauve blush will compliment this look. Finish off with a brown sparkly lipstick layered with a frosted berry (like the two shown in the top picture). The layered lipstick look is amazing.

Jelly Pong Pong Caribbean Sun Bronzer Duo/Aruba – Product Review

Subscribe to my channel for more great product tips and reviews.

This bronzer duo is a product that I was looking forward to using and reviewing. I do love it . If you have a light complexion with warm tones, the duo shades of Aruba will work beautifully. They go on easy and blend well.

Use the darker shade beneath for a double-bronze effect or use the darker shade beneath the cheekbone to contour and the lighter shade on top of cheekbone to highlight. Dust the lighter shade above brows on forehead, down the nose and on chin for that just-kissed-the-sun look.

It comes in an easy little compact with a quality mirror. Brush is not included.

Overall, I would buy this product again.

Makeup Colors Inspired by a Southwest Palette

Our southwest colors move us. Sedona's red rocks, glowing sunsets, apples from the Rio Grande Valley, red hot chiles, the soft golden glow of aspens, fall harvests, are just a few contributors to the palette provided us as inspiration here in the Southwest.  I've done my best to search out and bring some colors aptly suited to match the lovely southwest shades.

An example of natural colors in the southwest

Makeup colors that match those naturally occurring in the southwest

Eye Studio™ Color Pearls™ Marbleized Eyeshadow in Sinful Sinnamon from Maybelline is our first pick for beautiful eyes.  Though the highlighter is sparkly which is not as suitable in this instance, the intense solid shade works beautifully for our purposes.  Smooth solid shade into crease.

Another great pick for eyes with all the shades we need is the Urban Decay Vegan Palette from beauty.com. Six best-selling shades also just happen to be vegan.
Everything at Urban Decay is cruelty-free (meaning they don't test on animals. . .ever!), and this palette is dedicated to fervent vegan fans - those who "just say no" to using animal by-products of any kind. Vibrant teal and silvery money-green eye shadows, in addition to four rich neutrals. Includes travel-sizes of Eye shadow Primer Potion in Sin and 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.
A closer look reveals intricate artwork of favorite creatures big and small, all printed with soy-based inks on recycled packaging. Contains: 6 Eyeshadows, Eyeshadow Primer Potion and 24/7 Eye Pencil.

I find these shades perfectly suited to a southwest palette.

We all want the best in a mascara and Femme Couture Monster Lash Mascara Blackest Black, from Sally Beauty Supply, suits the wild side for those of us living a little closer to nature out here in the southwest.  Also available in Midnight Black and Black Brown.

For beautiful blushing, glowing southwest cheeks, Palladio Mosaic Bronzer Herbal Powder from Palladio in Velvet Plum or Desert Rose, also from Sallie Beauty Supply. Case contains five shades just perfect for blending and highlighting to bring out the earthy, rich shades of nature here closely matching our colors.

For the ultimate in glossy shine, Avon's Glazewear Lip Gloss in Apple Cinnamon with a sparkle finish. Soft and moisturizing, lightens and brightens your look with a easy dab.

Find the perfect shades for your skin tone and follow the southwest palette to a gorgeous glow!
